Dashwise Terms of Use

Version 1.0, 30 October 2026

These terms apply to the Dashwise app for iPhone and, later, for Android. They are written to be read. Nothing in them takes away rights that you have under the law.

1. Who we are

Dashwise is made by Stijn IT, owned by Stijn van de Pol, the address in our imprint, the Netherlands. Chamber of Commerce (KvK) 42015984. VAT NL005437344B89. E-mail info@getdashwise.nl. Send questions, complaints and claims about Dashwise to this address.

2. These terms and the app store

  1. By downloading or using Dashwise you agree to these terms. They form the license agreement between you and Stijn IT, not between you and Apple or Google.
  2. Dashwise is free. If paid features are ever added, we will tell you which extra terms apply to them before you buy.

3. What Dashwise is, and what it is not

  1. Dashwise reads data that your car reports through an OBD-II adapter, and shows it as a dashboard, warnings you set yourself, fault codes, trips and lap times.
  2. Dashwise is an information tool. It does not repair anything, it is not a safety system, and it is not a diagnosis by a professional. The values it shows depend on your car and your adapter, and can be late, missing or wrong.
  3. Dashwise works with many, but not all, cars and adapters. We do not sell adapters and do not guarantee that a specific adapter works.

4. Your license

You may use Dashwise for your own use on devices that you own or control, as allowed by the store's usage rules. You may not sell, rent or redistribute the app, or copy, decompile or change it, except where the law allows this.

5. Using Dashwise safely

  1. Driving. Set Dashwise up before you drive. Don't hold or operate your phone while driving. Use a fixed mount, or let a passenger use the app. Follow the traffic rules of the country where you drive.
  2. Warnings. No warning in Dashwise does not mean that everything is fine. Your car's own gauges and warning lights come first.
  3. Fault codes. Clearing fault codes erases stored data and resets the readiness monitors. It does not fix the cause, and a vehicle inspection may fail or need an extra test afterwards. Only clear codes when you know why they are there. Never clear codes to hide a fault from a buyer, an inspector or a warranty provider.
  4. Trips and the mileage log. Distances are estimates from GPS or the car's speed, and addresses come from Apple Maps. The mileage log is a convenience, not a tax logbook for a company car. You decide what you submit to an employer or a tax authority, and you check it first.
  5. Lap timing. Use lap timing only on closed circuits, never on public roads.
  6. Your adapter and car. Plug in and use the adapter as its maker describes. The adapter stays powered in the OBD-II port; unplug it if the car will stand still for days.
  7. Third-party terms. Follow the terms of the services you use with Dashwise, such as your mobile network and the store you got the app from.
  8. Lawful use. Use Dashwise only for lawful purposes and only on vehicles you are allowed to use.

6. Your data

Dashwise has no account and stores your data on your device. Our privacy policy at getdashwise.nl/privacy explains what happens with data.

7. Updates and availability

We may improve, change or stop Dashwise or a feature of it. We fix security and safety problems as the law requires. We do not promise that every car, adapter or iOS version will keep working.

8. Liability

  1. Use while driving is your responsibility. Dashwise is not made to be operated while driving. Holding or operating a phone while driving is not allowed in the Netherlands and in many other countries. If you do so anyway, or otherwise break traffic rules while using Dashwise, that is your own responsibility, and we are not liable for the consequences.
  2. Your decisions. We are not liable for loss that results from:
    1. using the mileage log or trip data for a claim, a tax return or another statement to a third party;
    2. clearing fault codes, including the result of a vehicle inspection or a warranty decision afterwards;
    3. using lap timing anywhere other than a closed circuit;
    4. not following the rules in article 5.
  3. Legal limits. These terms do not exclude or limit liability where the law does not allow that.

9. Apple

If you got Dashwise from the App Store, these points also apply:

  1. These terms are between you and Stijn IT only, not Apple. Stijn IT, not Apple, is responsible for Dashwise and its content.
  2. Stijn IT provides support for Dashwise (see article 1). Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance.
  3. If Dashwise does not meet a warranty that applies to it, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for it, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Dashwise.
  4. Stijn IT, not Apple, handles any claim from you or a third party about Dashwise or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that Dashwise does not meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection law.
  5. If a third party claims that Dashwise or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Stijn IT, not Apple, handles that claim.
  6. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on a U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  7. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple may enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

10. Ending

You can stop using Dashwise at any time by deleting it. Your license ends when you delete the app, or if we stop offering Dashwise.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example for new features or new laws. A new version applies to app versions released after it, and we will show it in the app before it applies. Changes never apply to the past. If you do not agree, stop using Dashwise and delete it.

12. Law and courts

  1. Dutch law applies to these terms. If you are a consumer living in another country of the European Union, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of your own country.
  2. If you are a consumer, you can bring a dispute before the competent court in the Netherlands or in the country where you live. We can only bring a dispute against a consumer before the court of the country where the consumer lives.
  3. If you use Dashwise for your business, disputes go to the Rechtbank Oost-Brabant in the Netherlands.
  4. Please contact us first (article 1); most problems are solved by e-mail.

13. Language

These terms are available in English and Dutch. If the versions differ, the one most favourable to you applies.
